In a culture where logic is king, and intellect is the coin of the realm, it’s easy to forget that emotions speak a language all their own. “The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing,” in Pascal’s words, and until we learn the grammar of emotional life – the syntax of feelings, the vernacular of affections – we cannot truly know ourselves. In this month’s edition of The Seekers Forum, we’ll be exploring the mother tongue of emotions and their dominance in human life. Why does emotion trump reason so often? Why are feelings so intractable once they kick in? What is emotional intelligence and how do we learn it? Finally, how can we harmonize our heart and mind in order to speak with a unified voice that captures the wisdom of both? These are some of the questions we explore in this month’s program.
