1. What would it take for you to love the life you have? Describe the obstacles to doing so. Be specific.

  • Do you imagine that there are downsides to loving the life you have? If so, what are they?
  • Do you equate contentment with complacency? If not, what's the difference?
  • What are the potential benefits of learning to love the life you have?

2. How could the practice of contemplating mortality shift your perspective in positive ways? Be specific.

  • What do you take for granted that has the potential to give you joy?
  • What are you putting off that matters to you and why? The why is very important.
  • What petty resentments are you willing to give up?
